The Lightpower Collection

Lightpower was founded in 1978 in Germany as a lighting rental company. Since then Lightpower has grown to be an internationally established distributor for stage and studio lighting equipment. The Lightpower Collection was born out of a company culture that has grown over several years with a passion for collecting Rock’n’Roll art. The collection features photography and album cover artwork from many of the world’s greatest photographers and designers.

Neal Preston’s Rock’n’Roll photography represents the core of this collection and comprises over seventy large-format original fine art prints. Preston’s archive is one of the most extensive in the world and includes every major artist in rock history. His photographs continue to be shown worldwide. The latest opportunity amonst others to see his works was at the NAMM Show in Anaheim, at Stage | Set | Scenery in Berlin and–slightliy different–at the fashion house Kressmann in Schwerin.

Legendary photographers such as Bob Gruen, Michael Zagaris, Jørgen Angel and Henry Diltz are also in the portfolio and their fine art prints can be purchased through the Lightpower Collection.

The Lightpower Collection runs the Limelight Gallery, curates and produces exhibition concepts, and provides artworks for events. All prints are available for sale via the website. The Lightpower Collection is a non-profit organisation.

All proceeds from sales of fine art prints and merchandise will be donated to  “Behind the Scenes” and Backup–The Technical Entertainment Industry Charity.

“NOT JUST PICTURES” – A life full of photograpgs and stories
What a night! One of the most renowned photographers of our time, Chris Floyd, did us the honour of telling us about his work as a photographer with some of the most famous people in the world. The Limelight Gallery offered the event “NOT JUST PICTURES” on Chris’ book of the same name at the Deelenhaus in Paderborn and many interested people gathered. The London curator Dave Brolan asked Chris about his career and a very amusing conversation developed that one could have listened to for hours.
Afterwards, everyone went together to the gallery, where some of his works are exhibited and the evening ended with drinks, nice conversations and many signed books. German TV station WDR with the lovely Christian and Jan-Ole collected impressions and statements, we are very curious about the report!
Get in touch if you are intested in purchsing a book or even an originally signed fine art print!

Neal Preston’s “In the Eye of the Rock’n’Roll Hurricane” at the Auditorium Hamburg
After the extremely successful exhibition at the Auditorium in Hamm, we are now bringing the “Rock’n’Roll Hurricane” to the Hamburg branch together with Limelight Gallery.
In the beautiful Speicherstadt you can see Preston’s photographs free of charge from 8 December 2022 to 21 January 2023: A relaxed get-together of Mötley Crüe before the next concert or being there “live” as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury applies kohl before the gig. It will at least feel like live, because the close-ups give the scenes a liveliness that draws the viewer right into the action. As always, all proceeds from the sales of Fine Art Prints will go to charitable foundations within the event industry.

Kai Schäfer at the Auditorium
Together with Limelight Gallery we present Kai Schäfer’s “worldrecords” at the Auditorium in Hamm.
Legendary records photographed on no less legendary record players: Kai Schäfer’s “worldrecords” photographs take the viewer on a nostalgic journey through music history. A journey through the soundtrack of your life.
