Neal Preston i Randers (Dänisch, English)

The story of the exhibition in Randers, Denmark, begins on the other side of the world. After seeing the Neal Preston exhibition of the Lightpower Collection in Las Vegas, Jens Lind from Gobo & Highlight A/S, our friends and sponsors, was so excited that he brought his friend Mikael Qvist Rørsted to our exhibition in Stockholm so that he could see for himself. Mikael is the director of Værket Music and Theatre House in Randers, and we were passionate about bringing the exhibition to his homeland. The 60,000-inhabitant city of Randers boasts an impressive list of artists due to the fantastic work at Værket. Joan Baez, Joe Cocker, Simply Red, Texas or Tom Jones – all of them and many more have given concerts there.

Now a rock club was to complete the venue, and what better way to inaugurate the “Turbine” than to exhibit Neal Preston’s unique photos of the world’s biggest rock stars?

On 250 square meters over three floors, the pictures and videos can now be seen. Partly presented on our illuminated walls, partly perfectly integrated into the stylish Scandinavian interior design of the club.

The opening at the beginning of January with over 100 invited guests was a great success and Neal Preston did not miss the opportunity to come himself. He signed books and posters for his fans and entertained the next day in a public reading with great stories from his life as one of the few photographers who got to get up close and personal with rock stars. These stories will be published later this year in his new book in R|A|P Verlag. A small foretaste can be seen here in the video of the reading.

The exhibition lasts for three weeks and is a great success with over 3000 visitors, many of whom came several times. Sys Christina Vestergaard, PR Manager of Værket and Turbinen, couldn’t imagine a better debut for the new rock club, which is now on everyone’s lips, not least because of the exhibition.

As always, the proceeds from the sales of fine art prints, books and posters will benefit the “Behind the Scenes” foundation.
